Review

Step-by-Step is a cookbook written specifically for children. That
Elliott has had plenty of experience teaching children to cook is
evident in the book’s introductory section, which includes tips and
checklists for adults that will assist children in avoiding such common
mistakes as mixing up teaspoons and tablespoons. Elliott divides her
recipes according to the heat source used to prepare the dish, so adults
can direct children to the appropriate section. The recipe directions
are both written and illustrated to assist the novice chef and new
reader. Elliott’s creative recipes introduce a variety of
easy-to-prepare and delicious dishes, making this an ideal first
cookbook.
