Review

Eat, play, and be merry is the theme of this four-book Kid Power series.
Three of the volumes focus on food, and the fourth explores fun ways to
exercise and get in shape. Each book consists of short, easy-to-read
chapters that investigate the subject from beginning to end.

Breakfast Blast features recipes like Berry Parfait, Breakfast Pizza,
Scrambled Tofu, Yummy Bagel Toppings, Sweet Crunchy Granola, and even
Green Eggs and Ham that give a solid, healthy start to a child’s day.
Lunch Munch focuses on more solid fare, with recipes for Bean Salad,
Pota-to Boats, Pita Sandwiches, Rice and Pasta Salad, Soup, Muffins, and
Green Salad. Super Snack is all about healthy, easy-to-make treats that
include yogurt variations, fruit concoctions, trail-mix cookies, and
bread spreads. The food volumes also discuss kitchen safety, explain
basic cooking terms, and examine why good nutrition is so important.
Active Kids offers tips on how to be-come flexible, warm up, get strong,
and cool down.

Sidebars, a glossary, and an index support the text in each volume,
along with dozens of photos and full-colour illustrations. This series
is a great way to tempt youngsters into trying proper eating and
exercise habits. Highly recommended.
