Review

Elliot’s Great Big Lift-the-Flap Book is sure to be a hit with
youngsters. This oversized board book is sturdily bound and features
large, brightly coloured illustrations of Elliot the Moose and his
friends. The flaps, too, are strong enough to withstand lots of wear and
tear from small fingers.

Each double-page spread has a theme, requiring the reader to locate
specific details. For example, the first pages depict Elliot and friends
playing hide-and-seek. Children must locate and identify the characters
in their hiding places by lifting the flaps. On other pages, children
will learn about opposites, explore shapes and colours, and count from
one to ten.

Young children invariably love lift-the-flap books, either on their own
or when shared with an adult. Their delight when the flaps are raised
and the surprises revealed never ends. With more than 60 flaps, this
book featuring Andrea Beck’s endearing stuffed-toy characters will
provide hours of learning and enjoyment for preschool and primary-grade
children. Highly recommended.
