Review

Rick and Willow are off again on another adventure, accompanying their
parents to Dawson City during Discovery Days celebrations. While their
parents are off filming a documentary, Rick and Willow team up with a
local boy named Casey, who introduces them to rafting and panning for
gold. Willow pans up a gold-nugget ring, while Rick finds some
interesting old papers in an abandoned cabin that was supposedly
inhabited by the poet Robert Service many years previously. Trouble
starts when the Discovery Days coordinator, a suspicion-provoking young
woman, absconds with the poem. The children, in hot pursuit on their
raft, find themselves inadvertently in the Discovery Days race down the
Klondike River. They win the race, retrieve the poem, and find the
rightful owner of the ring; the young woman of dubious character is
apprehended by the authorities. Rick and Willow explain everything to
their concerned parents, who by now expect nothing less than excitement
and adventure from their two rather interesting children.

The Klondike Ring is an action-packed story interwoven with some
well-researched historical facts. The authors have included inserts
within the text of the story, providing accurate data on the history and
culture of the Yukon and Klondike. The addition of website addresses
encourage readers to further research these topics. Highly recommended.
