Review

The Dentist and You describes all aspects of a typical dental visit,
from teeth cleaning to X-rays, and all the tools of the dental trade
(rubber gloves, masks, saliva ejectors, etc.). Children learn about
cavities and about the important role they need to play in caring for
their teeth. The author provides many tips for parents (such as not
communicating their own anxieties about dental appointments) and
suggestions for making the trip to the dentist more pleasant, from
bringing along a toy friend to choosing the flavor of fluoride
treatment. Colorful photos taken in real-world dental settings accompany
the well-written text. Recommended.
