Review

It’s the first day of classes at St. Wolcott School when Grade 6
teacher Miss Angela Vindez plummets from the belfry at the top of the
school. Seventh-grader Daphne Shea and other students witness the
bizarre and initially unexplainable incident. Daphne and her closest
friends, Nick and Peach, decide to investigate the incident. Their
sleuthing lands them in the middle of a mystery involving the tragic
past of Grudstone School, which stood where their school now stands.

Slade, an award-winning author, offers a comical yet spooky tale
featuring ghosts and gangsters that is likely to be a hit in the
classroom or around the campfire. Return of the Grudstone Ghosts is the
first book in the Canadian Chills series, a collection of
suspense/thriller novels geared to preteen readers. Recommended.
