Review

Murray Townsend, a columnist with The Hockey News, continues the work of
Bob McKenzie in this detailed look at each of the 26 teams in the
National Hockey League. Like the NHL itself, the book is divided into
two sections: the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference. Though
there is no index, the teams are grouped alphabetically within their
respective conferences.

The author provides a synopsis of the abbreviated 1994–95 season,
together with an analysis of trades and coaching changes. The coaching
and management of each organization is scrutinized, along with the
results of last year’s draft. Based on his analysis of past
performance, Townsend offers his predictions for the current season.
Individual player statistics and an easy-to-read schedule for the entire
season are included. Of particular interest to hockey pool participants
is Townsend’s “Ultimate Pool Picks.”

By a quirk of fate, the player on the cover of the book—Claude
Lemieux—is now sporting different team colors.
