Review

Juice enters the world of high-school football and steroids in this
high-interest, low-vocabulary novel for reluctant readers. Michael
Monroe, nicknamed the Moose, is captain of the football team. Having
just won the Division Two championship, the coach has decided to retire.
His replacement, Coach Barnes, wants to move the team forward to win the
Division One championships. Coach Barnes’s desire is so strong, he’s
willing to push the team to win at all costs. The only question that
remains is how far the members of the team are prepared to go.

Eric Walters successfully captures the world of high-school football in
this solid story, with believable characters and predictable action.
Most important, however, is that the book calls into question how much
is too much, and forces the reader to think about what price should be
placed on winning. Recommended.
