Review

School has just finished for the year, and Emmie Seegal and Angela Black
are looking forward to 10 weeks of freedom. This will be Angela’s
first summer in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, and it promises to be a very
different one—the two friends will be spending all their time
together. Emmie has invited Angela for a summer-long sleepover, if their
parents agree. With Emmie’s mom away at work, Angela will be there to
help. Emmie is confident things will go smoothly—if Angela will only
forget about ghosts. But it isn’t long before the pair hear noises and
start to see shadows. The girls decide to find out who is watching them.

Tom Schwarzkopf has created a story of friendship and added in a good
old-fashioned ghost mystery. Angela and Emmie are typical pre-teens who
seems to have a knack for finding trouble. The seaside community, with
its many mysteries and superstitions, is a perfect setting for their
adventure. From the opening pages, the reader is drawn in. As the story
unfolds more and more questions are raised, but even in the end the
identity of the ghost is still unclear. A very interesting read.
Recommended.
