Review

The Martindales can’t afford to offend the new guest who checks into
their inn. After all, it is the off-season, and while they are not
exactly poor, they have cash-flow problems. But when they discover that
their new guest, the mysterious Mr. Moon, eats parsnips and would rather
make his own bed than have anyone enter his room, they become convinced
he has criminal tendencies, and they decide to investigate.

This well-written novel, with believable characters, is sure to hold
the reader’s interest. But its real strength lies in its delightful
humor, with the elements of comedy and mystery skillfully interwoven.
Only in the climactic scene does the story falter when the action and
humor become improbable and absurd. Nevertheless, this book is an
excellent addition to the fictional material available to young-adult
readers.
