Review

Stanley Coren, television personality and author of popular books about
canine behaviour, has written an easy-to-read book about dogs for
elementary school–age children. This attractive and well-illustrated
volume presents information on a variety of topics grouped in four
sections, such as “How Dogs Talk” and “How Dogs See the World.”
Coren’s explanations are simple, often amusing, enriched by anecdotes,
and in short bite-sized bits mostly headed by questions (e.g., “Why do
male dogs raise their legs to pee?”). This entertaining, informative
book will especially appeal to youngsters growing up in a family with a
dog.
