Super Move, Morgan

Morgan is back to face another dilemma in his ninth book. Aldeen Hummel
is the Godzilla of Grade 3 who calls Morgan Lard-o. Not only are Morgan
and Aldeen pioneer-project partners at school, but Morgan has to spend a
whole Saturday at her house because his parents have to go out and his
friend Charlie has the flu. Worst of all, he can’t find his Commander
Crunch action toy.

While playing at Aldeen’s house, Morgan notices a Commander Crunch
action toy in her bedroom and deduces that it is his. He executes a real
superhero move and sneaks into her bedroom, gets the toy, and puts it
into his backpack. While doing this, he discovers his own Commander
Crunch in the bottom of his back pack. Super move, Morgan! When Aldeen
catches him stealing, the tension between the two children is palpable.
Morgan is embarrassed at being caught in the act and Aldeen is
embarrassed by his discovery that she owns the toy.

Young readers will relate well to the confusion Morgan experiences as
he navigates relationships and figures out what to do in difficult
situations. The book has lively black-and-white illustrations and moves
at a fast pace that will keep young readers interested. Recommended.
