Review

This is a tale about a messy little boy named Thomas. He conjures up
some pirates who live in the bathroom to explain why the bathroom is
always a mess. The pirates play with the toothpaste, the toilet paper,
the hair dryer, the bubble bath, the towels, and anything else that
might leave a mess. The pirates are clearly responsible for the bathroom
mayhem, but there’s no convincing Mom. The pirates always leave before
Mom returns. She is accused of not understanding because she orders
Thomas to tidy up. Luckily, Dad comes to the rescue, fights those nasty
pirates and restores the bathroom. However, one small problem
remains—something about dinosaurs in Thomas’s bedroom.

Clever pictures accompany this easy-to-read text. The plot is most
likely to appeal to (messy) little boys between three and six. The humor
may fall flat for children who’ve been brought up to believe that both
boys and girls should pick up after themselves.
