Review

This collection of 22 short poems for children celebrates the people and
customs of Newfoundland, Labrador, and the Quebec North Shore. Obed’s
verse is sprightly, with elements of nonsense—she certainly knows how
to have fun with noise, as children do—and marked by a commendable
lightness of touch. Steffler’s colorful full-page illustrations
provide a delightful complement to this very pleasant collection of
light verse.
