Review

One Gorilla is a joyful counting book for preschoolers, with delightful
hidden animals on every page. The “list of things I love: two
butterflies, four squirrels, five pandas,” and so forth, always ends
with the favorite “one gorilla.” The author’s sensitive drawings
will fascinate youngsters as they learn to count to 10 by locating the
hidden creatures.

One Gorilla is also an excellent patterning book for teaching rhythm
and word patterns. Children will love the predictability and the search
for the “one gorilla.” The stunning illustrations invite readers to
return to them again and again. This is a book for young children to
treasure.
