Review

This scholarly and rigorous treatment of Michael Snow’s films and
their impact upon the filmmaker’s art features contributions by such
gurus of film art as Bart Testa, Jonas Mekas, Steve Reich, Regina
Cornwell, and R. Bruce Elder. A number of related themes, including the
history of independent film in North America and the influences on Snow,
are also addressed. Several black-and-white photographs enhance the
text. Included in this well-documented and effectively organized volume
is a 40-page bibliography that provides a wealth of information for film
aficionados and serious independent filmmakers alike.
