Eye-catching photographs of colourful urban scenes from around the world
are presented
in this concept book by award-winning photojournalist Zoran Milich. The
photos appeal to children’s interests, featuring such things as bright
red double-decker buses, sleek black limousines, and purple playgrounds.
The colour words are the only text in the book and appear in lower case
letters below a small close-up detail from the full photograph. The
“yellow” picture clue is the top of a traffic pylon; the “green”
clue is a section of a swing seat; and the “blue” square is part of
a freshly painted warehouse wall. The last double-page spread showcases
“Many colors!” that are represented by a multi-hued garage door.
As in Milich’s earlier works (The City ABC Book and City Signs) the
page layout is visually striking. Children will enjoy the “I Spy”
nature of the book and be inspired to identify colours in their own
environment. Highly recommended.
