Review

This is another fun tale of mystery and antics featuring Benny the big
black dog, his owner Rosie, and her best friend Fran. Rosie and her
friends have grown a giant pumpkin for the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off, and
just when it looks like they might win, a nasty thief begins stealing
the pumpkins. To top it all off, Rosie finds out she has to wear
glasses. As the three pseudo-detectives disguise themselves and set off
to solve the pumpkin crime, Benny is unfairly accused of a criminal
deed. Can the three solve the mystery and save the Smith Falls Great
Pumpkin Weigh-Off before it is too late?

Readers will delight in the quick-paced story, the witty dialogue, and
the nonstop antics of a lovable dog and his friends. Linda Hendry’s
illustrations endear the characters to the reader by conveying their
every emotion. An added bonus is inclusion of two easy recipes—Rainy
Day Dog Biscuits and Mrs. Bittle’s Pumpkin Muffins—that are an
integral part of the story. Benny Bensky and the Giant Pumpkin Heist is
a delightful companion story to Borsky’s Benny Bensky and the Perogy
Palace. Highly recommended.
