Review

Today is the first day of the Gaggle Sisters’ river tour, and since
dawn Dorothy the goose has been packing the floating stage with
costumes, scenery, and supplies. Instead of helping, her sister, Sadie
the goose, spends the morning deciding what necklace she will wear. Once
the raft is launched, Dorothy rows and steers while her sister lounges
in a deck chair and indulges herself in deep thought. As the hour of the
first concert approaches, Dorothy prepares the stage and solves
technical problems while Sadie tries on her special hat. When a sudden
wind turns Sadie’s hat from “The Green Beret Of Much Loveliness And
High Degree Of Style” to “A Green Beret Of Much Wetness And High
Degree Of Sogginess,” Dorothy saves the show while Sadie frets and
finds excuses not to perform.

This is another droll instalment of the Gaggle Sisters and as usual,
Sadie would be pвté de foie gras by now if she were traveling with
anyone other than her long-suffering and sweet-tempered sister. Chris
Jackson’s quirky text and comical pictures work beautifully together.
Readers will especially enjoy watching the sparks fly between dutiful
Dorothy and the impossible Sadie. Highly recommended.
