Review

Journeying from the Arctic to Peggy’s Cove and to all the major
centres in between, youngsters learning their letters from this book can
tour Canada from A to Z. A beaver, a moose, and a bear are the tour
guides who take readers across the country. On the tour, young readers
can enjoy Canada’s culture and lifestyles, like playing hockey,
watching the Zamboni, maple-syrup–making, and kayaking—all part of
the Canadian tapestry. Per-Henrik Gьrth’s vivid illustrations are
deceptively simple and bear closer examination. Adults can encourage
readers to expand on the information conveyed in both the text and the
illustrations. This fine alphabet book is highly recommended.
