Review

This sequel begins where Once Upon a Time, Long, Long Ago (1999) leaves
off. Set in prehistoric times (about 50,000 years ago), Eevo and Sim are
once again reunited with their mother and father. Upset by the way the
Cave Clan have shunned their son and daughter, Shim and Dedu decide to
take their family and join the Wetlands Clan, which Shim first belonged
to. During their journey across the desert in a sandstorm, the children
get separated from their parents and, once again, are forced to survive
on their own. With the companionship of two wolves, Eevo and Sim find
their parents; they also rescue a four-year-old girl named Mee and
return her to her mother.

Life with the Wetlands Clan is very busy as Eevo and Sim share their
tool-making and fire-making skills. As word spreads, other clans travel
to the Wetlands to learn these skills. Ola, from the Great River Clan,
not only learns fire-making, he also entices the clan to return with him
to hunt the Great Crocodile.

Just a Little Later with Eevo and Sim is an exciting adventure story
about the struggle of prehistoric humans for survival and for knowledge.
Much more than a simple history, though, Henry Shykoff provides us with
an intriguing look at how two bright youngsters using their own
resourcefulness benefit a whole community. Recommended.
