Review

Screenwriter Glenda Leznoff’s engaging picture book recounts the
amusing tale of a shy piglet, Juliet Hogsworth, who is very talented at
singing and dancing but intimidated by the big stage. Then Juliet gets
the part of Eliza Piglittle in the production of George Barnyard
Shaw’s Pigmalion.

This is a wonderful story about overcoming one’s fears and achieving
one’s dreams. It not only tells of Juliet’s courage and
determination to succeed, but also shows her transformation into a
self-confident actress.

Rachel Berman’s highly imaginative, colorful illustrations carry the
story’s emotion and humor, capturing every nuance from start to
finish. The illustrations have a French Provenзal background complete
with fashionable piglets. The flamboyant director, Monsieur Le Cochon,
is draped in a red cape and sports a beret, silk scarf, and
Hollywood-style sunglasses. Highly recommended.
