In April 1998, the Royal Canadian Mint held the Millennium Coin Design
Contest, open to all Canadians. After receiving more than 60,000
designs, 12 representing the spirit of Canada’s history were selected
to be minted in 1999. Another 12 representing the “values that
Canadians hold dear ... for the hopes and dreams for the future of
Canada” were selected to be minted in the year 2000.

The Canadian coin collecting kit provides the opportunity to make these
24 special coins true keepsakes. The package includes a sturdy
cardboard–plastic folder where the collector presses each coin into
its own holding spot. A small, informative book explains the meaning
behind each coin and its title. The touching commentary, enhanced with
enlarged photographs, encourages the reader to take a closer look at the
coins and the values they represent, pride, achievement, health, family,
wisdom, and freedom being just a few.

When all coins are present, the owner will have a magnificent
collection of art and a personal treasure. Recommended.
