Review

Twenty-five easy-to-make Christmas tree ornaments are included in this
craft book for children. They are made of readily available materials
and can be constructed by children as young as kindergarten age.

The book presents eight theme trees: a sweet tree, an old-fashioned
tree, a pioneer tree, a pet tree, a friendship tree, an angel tree, a
star tree, and an outdoor tree. Each tree features three or four
ornaments that can, of course, be mixed and matched. Step-by-step
instructions explain how to make each ornament and the required
materials are listed. Detailed diagrams accompany each project and some
templates are provided. Steps requiring adult assistance are clearly
marked with a hand symbol. Suggested tips for adapting an ornament are
included where applicable. Full-page close-up photographs of each theme
tree shows the final product.

The diagrams are clearly marked and the instructions are easy to
follow. The ornaments are attractive, practical, and by no means
“crafty” looking; my son and I made the “noodle angels” from the
angel tree project with excellent results, and were inspired to make
several more to give away as gifts. A fun Christmas activity book, Trim
a Tree is highly recommended.
