Review

This practical handbook addresses the question of why spelling is
important, reviews the historical context of spelling, and provides
helpful spelling rules and patterns. The volume is divided into six
parts. Thirteen spelling strategies that focus on different learning
styles are presented with the aim of improving reading and writing. Also
included are the basic rules of spelling, accompanied by examples of how
to apply them, and useful tips for spotting and avoiding common spelling
errors. The illustrations serve to amuse and instruct, and the handy
lists of words provide a convenient reference tool. The Spelling Skills
Handbook for the Word Wise is recommended for students, parents, and
teachers.
