Review

If you are traveling with children, even a simple picnic in the park can
take the planning and preparation of a military operation. Candace
Weisner has been teaching family recreation for more than 15 years and
holds a degree in Recreation Administration. In Let’s Get Going, she
shares some of her secrets on how to keep children engaged and
enthusiastic.

The book features more than 250 suggested activities that are further
broken down into 12 kid-centred travel themes. The outings include zoos,
museums, beach trips, sporting events, nature walks, farms, historic
sites, and live theatre performances. For each type of jaunt, Weisner
suggests several inexpensive and child-friendly activities to maximize
enjoyment. The projects are divided into two different age groups, 2–5
and 6–10.

This step-by-step guide is a wonderful resource for parents, child-care
workers, teachers, just about anyone else who is looking for new ways to
maximize the enjoyment for both children and their adult caregivers.
Highly recommended.
