Review

This series of books about the Russian people, lands, and culture
presents current topics and facts in an easy-to-read, informative
format. An accounting of important Soviet space “firsts,” a Russian
folk tale (“The Tale of Baba Yaga”), and a recipe for potato treats
(a tasty dessert that looks like small potatoes) are just some of the
fascinating topics of interests included in the books. Beautiful, large
color photos, accompanied by suitable descriptions, are well placed on
the pages and provide visual examples of topics covered in the text. The
glossary included at the back of each book further clarifies unfamiliar
concepts. Recommended.
