Review

Set in the Glebe area of Ottawa, this young-adult novel is brisk and
filled with action. The protagonists are 12-year-old girls who during
their summer holidays are visited by a ghost with a problem he is
convinced they can solve. Puzzled, but having nothing better to do, they
set out to follow the clues. Their search leads them to some historic
places (the history lesson is an added bonus), and they make friends
with a person of another generation—a feisty old lady with lots of
wisdom and knowledge. The girls use some pretty inventive tricks as they
look for, find, and follow the objects of their search, en route to
preventing a murder.

Written in a breezy style, with colloquial dialogue and believable
characters, this upbeat and enjoyable mystery adventure is recommended.
