Review

Mortimer Mooner, the pig, rebels. First he stops wearing a tie. Then as
each day of the week passes he gets messier and smellier because he
stops cleaning his room, brushing his teeth, combing his hair, and
taking a bath. Mortimer enjoys his newfound filth and rebellious ways
until Grandmother Mooner comes for a visit. “My dear Mortimer,” she
says, “even though I do love you very much, I think that if I tried to
hug you, I would surely faint.” Mortimer cleverly cleans up his act,
just in time for hugs and kisses and lunch.

Author Frank B. Edwards and illustrator John Bianchi have created the
perfect picture book. The simple text and witty full-color illustrations
provide a ton of fun for both children and their parents. After all, who
doesn’t like the occasional holiday from housework and cleanliness?
Highly recommended.
