Review

Polly, who’d rather be known as Paulette, loves all things French. She
longs to visit Paris, which she believes just has to be more glamourous
than her home town of Periwinkle. To make her dream come true, she
decides to run away with her best friend, Clementine, and leaves
Periwinkle on a bus headed for the ocean. But on the way out of town, a
strange thing happens: Polly discovers that she would miss all the
things that she loves about her home, that home is where the heart is
and Paris can wait.

The illustrations by Rudolf Stussi bring this rather simple story to
vibrant life. Reminiscent of the movies of the 1950s that made Paris a
land of dreams for a whole generation, the art will delight readers of
all ages. Recommended.
