Review

This product package contains a small coil-bound book, a bright orange
plastic capsule, postcards addressed to the future, a notebook, and
envelopes for secrets. Children are shown how to create memorabilia and
store them in the time capsule. Counting systems and the various
calendar systems are explained in clear and concise prose. The next
section has write-in spaces for a personal description and descriptions
of daily life, friends, rules for children, holidays, wishes for the
future, and more. There are also instructions on how to interview and
how to be a neighborhood historian. Cartoon characters and informational
sidebars enhance the book’s appeal.

Although this product is not suitable for library circulation, teachers
of history and language arts could easily adapt the concepts for a
classroom project. Librarians looking for novel ideas could use the
product for theme-based millennium programs. Recommended.
