Fun with Franklin: Math Activity Book

These two “Fun with Franklin” books, which are consumable in nature,
capitalize on the phenomenal success of the Franklin industry. The Math
Activity Book would make an excellent accompaniment to the “Franklin
Learns Math” CD-ROM. Many of the activities are extensions of those
found on the CD, such as matching analog and digital time, purchasing
toys with coins, and determining the missing number by number pattern.
In addition, there are simple and complex number dot-to-dots, various
number recognition activities, and simple arithmetic games. Many of the
story problems are drawn from the various Franklin stories, so children
familiar with the books will recognize the references. At $1.95, this
little book is worth the price for home use, but it is not suitable for
schools.

Franklin’s Valentine Cards is a slim book containing 50 full-color,
perforated valentine cards. The poses of Franklin and his friends—such
as Franklin sleeping in his shell (with his night light on), riding his
bike, or performing the Nutcracker prince—reflect many of the
published stories. For $2.99, it is a pity that there are no envelopes
included, just “to” and “from” lines on back of each card.
Franklin fans will enjoy giving and receiving these valentines.
