Review

Each Sunday, Carla, her brother Drew, and their father travel to
Grandma’s house. One Sunday after dinner, Carla’s father volunteers
to wash the dishes while Grandma rests upstairs. However, while they are
washing the dishes, Carla, Drew, and Dad hear noises—a tappity tap
noise; a slide, slide, slide noise; and a thumpity thump noise. They are
very curious about the source of the noises and eventually go upstairs
to check on Grandma. To their surprise, they discover that Grandma has
been making the noises as she danced in the attic!

Readers are scaffolded in this beginning chapter book with large print,
simple and repetitive syntax and language, and supporting illustrations.
Children will be interested in solving the mystery of the noises.
Recommended.
