Review
Olivier is invited to spend his summer vacation with his recently
married grandpa and his third wife, Sylvia, at Cat’s Eye Corner.
Olivier had heard his parents call his new step-grandma a witch, though
he didn’t really believe it.
Olivier’s wild and mysterious adventures begin the moment he steps
through the door at Cat’s Eye Corner. He is led on a magical scavenger
hunt where he encounters numerous strange characters including a talking
fountain pen who can translate cat talk, the so-so Gang, and the
Inklings (mischievous fairies who steal and rearrange letters so that
language itself is changed).
This “can’t-put-it-down” book injects itself into the imagination
of anybody reading it. Through its clever wordplay and stimulating
language games, unwary readers could find themselves enjoying and
learning without being aware of it. Cat’s Eye Corner is an ideal book
for readers of all ages and a must-buy for any library. Highly
recommended.
