Review

“Anoles were the first lizards sold as pets. Ladies wore them as lapel
pins. They put tiny collars on them and chained them to their shirts.”
That’s one of the many interesting things that Abby and her younger
sister Tess learn about lizards.

Abby knew that once she put the pet-sitting poster up in her
neighborhood, she would take whatever job she was offered. However,
neither she nor her sister Tess are ready for Angus, the pet lizard Mr.
Maggioli is asking them to take care of while he goes away for the
weekend. As special as Angus is, he scares Tess.

As if Abby didn’t have enough to worry about, she also has the
responsibility of having to deal with crickets, Angus’s getaway, lost
lip gloss, arguing with her sister, and what Mr. Maggioli is going to
say when he returns.

This entertaining chapter book is easy to read, interesting, and
educational. Through Abby and Tess’s dialogue and actions, the reader
learns about lizards, responsibility, truth, trust, and sibling love.
Highly recommended.
