Review

Marcy’s baby sister loves her special blue birthday balloon with gold
lettering and rainbow-colored string. When it is lost, Marcy searches
everywhere in the city. She climbs ladders of apartment buildings to ask
the window washers if they have seen the lost balloon. At last, the
chimney sweep retrieves the balloon from a blocked chimney.

Craig MacAulay’s lively and humorous story is a perfect read-aloud
tale for preschool children. Hélиne Desputeaux’s illustrations
sparkle with color and motion in a perfect blend of picture and story.
Young children will enjoy counting to 10 as they locate the bright men
on the ladder.

This accomplished story of a resourceful girl will be enjoyed by
balloon-loving children and parents alike. Highly recommended.
