Auntie Pearl will agree to watch the baby only when it’s asleep.
Heather and her mother try everything: rocking, fresh air, stories,
lullabies, and food, with the help of the moon, wind, and river. By the
time they return, the baby is finally asleep and Heather and her mother
are able to go off together on a private trip.

The three-dimensional illustrations flow with imagination and movement
as the young child moves through the story. The story’s interesting
concepts and fluid language blend perfectly with the accompanying
illustrations. Both parents and other siblings can understand the
difficulties of getting the baby to sleep, or of having private moments
together.

This is Kim and Eugenie Fernandes’s first collaboration as a
mother-and-daughter team. Their talents are well blended in this
universal statement of the emotional needs of a young child and her
mother. Just You and Me will be a good choice for 2- to 5-year-olds,
especially those in families with a new baby. Highly recommended.
