Review

Readers who enjoyed Sonja Dunn’s two previous collections
(Butterscotch Dreams and Cracks and Crumbs) will welcome this
confirmation of her talent for having fine fun with noise, no matter her
subject—food or friendship, pets or problems. The verse is lively,
rollicking, even exuberant. And the panache of the verse is well matched
with the whimsicality of Mark Thurman's colorful illustrations. The
combination that results manages to carry off even its own carefully
crafted burden of political correctiveness (anti-sexist, multiracial,
and pro-environmental). Recommended.
