Review

The third in the Stevie Diamond Mystery series finds Stevie and her best
friend, Jesse Kulniki, narrowly escaping the dreaded Happy Rabbits
summer camp—only to have their neighbor Gertie Wiggins agree to
“keep an eye” on them. But when the elderly Gertie suddenly
vanishes, Stevie and Jesse, convinced she has been kidnapped, set about
trying to find her. Not only are they worried about Gertie, but they are
also anxious to avoid “sappy” Rabbits. Their list of suspects
includes Howard Biddlecombe, vice-president of the Elvis Presley fan
club, and Tonchia Balashnikoff, who is auditioning for a role in the
mosquito monster movie SLAP.

The author’s breezy writing style and facility for depicting
marvelously eccentric characters add up to a hilarious novel. The reader
is drawn into an exciting plot quickly and smoothly.

Who’s Got Gertie? is a page-turner that will leave the middle reader
laughing out loud! Recommended.
