Review

This small book focuses on a few minutes of one early morning in the
life of a young child. Waking up in a big city, he becomes aware of its
sights and sounds.

The theme of the book is not developed fully enough to sustain
interest. The main character is an observer and, while there are some
vivid sensory images, there is not enough interaction or emotional
response to stimulate the reader. The challenge referred to on the
book’s cover, to “Find the lion in the book,” is not made clear in
the text. Not a first-choice purchase.
