Review

The curious minds of young children often lead them to ask deceivingly
simple questions. Most parents and teachers will have been asked the
question that is this book’s title.

Two children make paper cut-out snowflakes at school. On the way home,
they learn from their father that each snowflake is different, and they
become curious about where snowflakes go. An interesting answer is given
that includes a variety of animals in distant parts of the world.

There is a pleasing rhythm to Lyn Cook’s text and an overall good
balance between the story’s realistic beginning and end with fanciful
and stimulating ideas in between. Rossitza Skortcheva’s illustrations
are colorful and very imaginative. Recommended.
