Review

This black-and-white, comic-book-style activity book is designed for
children of approximately 8 to 10 years of age who have taken the St.
John Ambulance first-aid course. The book reinforces the concepts
learned in the course with simple, illustrated, clearly written stories.
These concepts include what to do to help a person who is choking, how
to put an unconscious person in the recovery position, how to administer
artificial respiration, and what to do if someone is burned, seriously
cut, breaks a bone, or suffers frostbite. The book includes a variety of
puzzles and activities that reinforce other miscellaneous safety
information, such as how to decode signs on hazardous products. If this
well-done book finds its way into the hands of children who have not
taken the course, it may well inspire them to do so. Recommended.
