Review
Librarians are frequently asked, “Where do you keep the scary
books?” And the popularity of the spine-tingler continues to grow.
Strange and Eerie Stories, a collection of spooky tales, will thus be a
sure-fire hit with middle-grade students.
The nine stories deal with twilight-zone-unexplained-mysteries-type
phenomena. They are short and easy to read, making this book a good
choice for reluctant readers. Several of the stories, such as “The
Raven,” “Rescue by Numbers,” and “Spellbound,” are intriguing
enough to catch the interest of junior-high students. The book comes
with a clip-on flashlight for exciting night-time reading.
