Review

This book is the result of an artist-in-residence project undertaken at
G.T. Cunningham Elementary School in Vancouver, B.C. The children’s
art and supporting texts, first mounted as an exhibition at the Richmond
Art Gallery, are reproduced here for all to share and enjoy. A total of
28 children, ranging in age from 8 to 12, explored and expressed ideas
about their own history and heritage, working within the general theme
“We are all related.” The richness of their cultural backgrounds is
beautifully and powerfully evoked in this book, which will inspire
teachers to initiate similar projects with their students.

We Are All Related is a good example of the quality that can be
achieved when cultural, business, and educational groups work together.
Recommended.
