Review

This brief but delightful introduction to the world of stamp collecting
offers advice on how to take care of stamps, what to collect, how to
make a stamp album, finding out more about the hobby, and definitions of
philatelic terms. It also features interesting anecdotes. One such story
is about the 12-year-old boy who discovered the world’s rarest stamp
in his attic (an 1856 British Guiana stamp); another tells about a
controversial 1930 Bolivian map stamp that ignited a border war between
Bolivia and Paraguay.

Clearly written for beginning stamp collectors, Get Started is replete
with illustrations and reproductions of stamps, and the layout and
design are imaginative. Highly recommended.
