Review

This book outlines over 40 projects for creating a wide variety of craft
items using stencils and stamps. Everything from old bottles, unfinished
furniture, and straw hats to umbrellas, boxes, and scarves can be
decorated using the simple techniques and stencil patterns provided
here. The projects are quite sophisticated, but could be managed by
children and young adults with adult supervision.

The author begins by giving basic information on the tools and
techniques used in stencil work and stamping, and by outlining the
various ways of using paints and fabrics. The second section focuses on
projects involving stencils. The next section deals with stamping
projects, while the final group of projects involves combining both
techniques. More than 30 pages of stencil and stamp patterns are
provided. Each project is covered in a two-page spread that includes
detailed directions, clear supporting diagrams, and a full-color
photograph of a finished sample. Recommended.
