Review

Barbara Buetter has captured the fun and excitement of puppetry in this
bright and colorful children’s craft book, which features more than 20
projects for making everything from simple stick puppets, to sock
puppets, to papier-mвché puppets.

The book begins with information on using recycled supplies. Simple
decorating techniques, making faces, and adding body parts are then
outlined, followed by detailed descriptions of how to make the various
puppets. Clear diagrams, lists of supplies, and easy-to-follow
directions make these projects possible for most upper-elementary
children. Basic information on making puppet stages and giving puppet
shows is provided, along with various other suggestions for extending
the puppet experience.

Simple Puppets from Everyday Materials is suitable for home or school
use. Recommended.
