Review

Going to University provides a valuable starting point in helping
high-school students and their families to make informed decisions about
postsecondary education in both Canada and the United States. In
addition to identifying the various options (residential or commuter,
large or small, etc.), the book provides a useful 50-item inventory that
can help the prospective student sort out personal preferences.
Financial assistance is addressed, along with a realistic discussion of
the costs and benefits associated with university attendance. Readers
are guided through the mysteries of the application process, and the
various standardized tests that frequently accompany this process. Tips
on moving and adapting to the university setting are also given.
Students and counselors will find much of value in this excellent guide.
Highly recommended.
