Review

This revision of Karleen Bradford’s 1988 book on creative story making
is lucidly written and filled with valuable ideas. Topics include
brainstorming through the technique of clustering thoughts,
characterization, writing believable dialogue, uses of voice and tense,
composing an imaginative title, and editing. One section presents
story-starter ideas and tips from Canadian authors, which are reprinted
from Allison Gertridge’s Meet Canadian Authors and Illustrators
(1994).

All in all, a handy resource for both students and teachers of language
arts. Highly recommended.
