Review

In the 21st century, computer-dominated Omnicorp restructures and
manages a bankrupt city on Canada’s east coast by dividing the city
into zones controlled by Crime Corp. Robin Grey, a 16-year-old Omnicorp
Executive Trainee Graduate, blunders into the Border Zone populated by
gangs, runaways, and other “deviants” from her home area, the Centre
Zone. Seized in a sweep and locked up by Crime Corp, Robin escapes the
YARD (Youth Assessment and Retraining Division) with the help of Radd, a
veteran of the Off-Zone. Radd, Robin, and another YARD escapee join
forces to outsmart the oppressive Omnicorp agents. Robin confronts
shocking revelations about her family, enjoys a romantic interlude, and
experiences harrowing flights from various predators.

Based on the script of a movie that premiered at the Atlantic Film
Festival in 1955, Anchor Zone boasts an action-packed narrative,
engaging and resourceful young characters, and dialogue that is rich
with the idiom of the streets. Recommended.
